This variety is drought-resistant and can produce prolifically under the right conditions. Black Diamond watermelons thrive in full sun and require loamy, sandy, moist but well-drained soil. They prefer an acidic to neutral soil pH and need a long growing season to produce mature fruit. Unlike many other watermelon varieties, they typically lack stripes.
